Are Black People Bad Tippers?

It’s the stereotype that just won’t die!  “Black people are bad tippers at restaurants!”  I have heard it most my life and didn’t believe it had any merit until I started waiting tables. The results were surprising and the experience forced me to look at my own tipping habits and finally ask, “Is there any truth to this belief?”

Feel free to post your thoughts below!

Are Today’s Big Booties Real? (The Big Booty Diaries)

It’s a black woman’s worst nightmare – when someone tells her she doesn’t have a big ole booty! When someone told me this recently, it was so earth-shattering that it sent me on a quest to figure out what makes a big booty well…big and to find out why mine seem to no longer measure up.

What I found was mind-blowing and seriously had me asking, “Are today’s big booties even real?” Click the link below to check it out and if you dig it, share it!

Why Do Bad People Always Win? (And Get All the Friends?)

You ever knew someone who was a major bitch or asshole to the point you wonder did they directly come from Satan? However, it seems that everyone else can’t get enough of being around them and no matter how they treat others (you in particular), they seem to always get what they want.

A teenage girl emailed me and asked, “Why do bad people always seem to win?” This brought up so many memories from my childhood and not too distant past. I had to reprogram my mind on this issue because of the huge amount of suffering it brought on and where I arrived at really helped me better interpret “bad people always winning”.

Fox New Reporter vs. Black Business Owner – Who Won?

It was the face off seen around the city and then eventually, around the country. A Fox News Reporter attempts to make a black business owner look bad, but how she turned it around is remarkable!  Of course, the comments on Facebook went both ways and the Day Care Director was praised by many while other suggested she should close shop.  In this week’s episode of “One Chick Army”, I recap this interview and discuss many of the interesting comments.  Click below to watch the show.

An Open Letter to My Body (Spoken Word)

I was inspired to write this poem after I took off my clothes one day and actually like what I saw in the mirror.  I’ve been working out for consistently for over 4 years now and lost 50 lbs.  However, this last year has proven difficult because I have lost and gained the same 10 – 15 lbs over and over again.  I still have a ways to go, but in that moment, I liked what I saw.

I felt confused shortly there after because the critics were gearing up to rush in.  “How can I like my body when my stomach isn’t flat?” “How can I like my body when it is not the type of my body that Hollywood would accept?”  All of these voices were pounding up at my mental door trying to get in and soon after they did.  However, it was a fleeting moment, I looked in the mirror and actually liked what I saw.  And I decided to write about it and then record it.  Hit play below to give it a listen and if you like it, share it!
